I am not too terribly impressed with the idea of the Lumbridge Rebuildathon (really? Rebuildathon? OK, next time a natural disaster happens in real life, be sure to denote the restoration process as a rebuildathon). Mod Mark believes that it would be better for the RS Gold game to have these more "lore" related events, but when this game began, we took our holidays and incorporated them into our lore.
Santa Claus and the Queen of Snow have a son. The Queen of Snow is particular to Runescape. Death was a Guardian of Guthix, and it only makes sense that he is somehow incorporated into the game since things happen to die. Death, as an entity, has never really even presided over the Halloween holiday in reality as a figure, such as Santa Claus, but rather exists in a more abstract kind of idea than an entity personified.
I cannot say too much about the Easter Bunny other than he exists, but with Sunny, the Queen of Sunrise as the counterpart of the Queen of Snow, they actually have an interesting plotline going there, and there is potential for the Easter Bunny to be incorporated into that -- possibly as Sunny's subordinate.
And, for April Fool's, they even made Brassica Prime nothing less than a lore official god! A cabbage head is a god! For the love of Brassica Prime, he was present at Sliske's "Grand Ascension!"
I really fail to see how Mod Mark can say that the real-life holidays do not tie into the game because we made them tie in. We incorporated them into the game and made an April Fools Joke one of our gods -- you cannot fool me and say that they no longer relate to the lore!
