So Jagex, if you really want to know where to go from here, take a look at some things you have already implemented and the past history of the game. It's really quite simple.
Let's start with the easy one. Instead of the prestige system, use the brand new seasonal hiscores you recently came out with that turned out to be a flop because you have ridiculously stupid competitions on it.
Instead, give them some real meaning by basically implementing some different versions of the prestige system as seasonal hiscores. For example, have a separate seasonal hiscore of who gains the most XP in each skill for a full year. Do the same for monthly hiscores within that year but with only a few skills each month.
You could also have a hiscore called "prestige level X" where X is a number like 2 or 3 and where for an allotted amount of time(maybe 3 months for example) it tracks what level you would be using the XP formula for the would-be prestige system. So an example would be the hiscore says "prestige level 3" and it takes triple the XP in game for each hiscore level to go up. The difference is that this ends once the seasonal competition ends.
Now, the second part of this is trickier but honestly has to be implemented at some point in the game. All skills need to go to 120.
Now don't be alarmed people, having 120 skills doesn't mean you have to go raise them. Think back to 2005 when most skills barely went past level 70 in content. That could be today's 120s. It's there if you want it, but nothing requires it. However, as time goes on with the runescape accounts game, things will EVENTUALLY fill those gaps. A 120 cape now would be as elite as a 99 was back in 2005.
The only thing Jagex would have to balance out is 120 combat skills so they aren't OP. Maybe just scale them back to 99 during current boss fights and such until new fights require post-99 levels.
